Usually when people talk about going back to back, they talk about a championship of some kind. I think of when Dad and Clint won back to back state football championships with Alto in 2006 an 2007.

This time, it’s a little bit different for me. I’ll be leading back to back mission trips to foreign countries – Cuba and Haiti.

Tomorrow, I will fly to Miami for a day then board a private plane with my team for Cuba at daybreak. This team will consist of pastors and church leadership that we will introduce to our partners in Cuba. We have given churches an opportunity to go with us and experience what God is doing in there, visit some of our partners’ church plants, and give their church an opportunity to partner there in the future.

This will be a short trip, but I can’t wait to be on foreign soil with a group of pastors and church leaders – they are my favorite – and see what the Lord turns up!

While in Cuba, I will be off the grid – no connectivity with the rest of the world – but nonetheless, I will return on April 1, spend less than 24 hours in Miami, then fly into Port-Au-Prince, Haiti to prepare for my church’s Church to Church partnership trip beginning on April 3.

This trip is extra special for me because it’s the church that I attend and serve with here in Gainesville, it is their third trip to their partner church, and I got to lead their missions training once again this year (a definite learning experience) and feel it has been the best thus far. Isn’t it a blessing getting to walk through things in life with the same people year-in and year-out?

Our goal is to have everything we do there be discipleship based. If it isn’t modeling discipleship, we want to take a step back and review. Modeling discipleship is what Jesus charged us to do, and with our partner church in Haiti, that is our aim.

Please pray as I lead these two unique trips over the next two weeks. And don’t forget to check back for more while I’m out. (I have packed my camera.)
