Tomorrow, I fly to Moore, Oklahoma with Adventures Encounter to lead 43 teens on a relief trip to an area in great need after being devastated by a record size tornado just over a month ago.
Before we get into the details of what will go on in Moore, take a look at what exactly happened on that horrible day in May.
On May 20, 2013, Moore, Oklahoma (55,000 people) was devastated by an EF5 tornado that touched down for 30 minutes, 17 miles, and reportedly reached 1.3 miles in width. This tornado left Moore looking like a war-zone. The tornado killed 24 people, left 324 injured, and completely demolished two schools among numerous other buildings and homes.
My team will congregate at City Rescue, a homeless shelter in Oklahoma City, and travel to serve in Moore on a daily basis with Serve Moore and First Baptist Moore, two organizations dedicated to see the reconstruction and revival of its very own city.
Our days will be unpredictable and full of hard work as you can imagine.
On the other hand, we will have the privilege of ministering to, listening to, and playing with the families and children of Plaza Towers Elementary, a local school that lost 7 children during the storm. On the site of the school, organizations gather to aide and minister to those families and children going through the healing process.
Pray for our team as we leave the comfort of our homes to a land of few.
We need your help.
Moore needs your help.
