Have you ever fasted?
My first fast was for 3 days in Mozambique, Africa.
Those were three of the craziest, yet most fruitful days of my life.
She said to me, “I went to a friend’s house last weekend and you know what they had!? KEY LIME PIE! Oh Colby, I wanted it so bad! But I knew I couldn’t. I wouldn’t, because I’m fasting. I want to honor the Lord with this in every way.”
Hmm… This got me to thinking.
If we will do absolutely anything to honor God during a fast because it’s “unto the Lord”, then what is so different about every other day of our lives? Shouldn’t they be unto the Lord too?
Colossians 3:23 says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as for the Lord…”
What if we stewarded our bodies, our nutrition, our families, in the same manner – unto the Lord?
I tell you this: if you can fast in such ways, you definitely can’t use the excuse, “I just don’t have the discipline.”
After all, living “unto the Lord” is just a mindset, and one that we should all adopt.
