Granda, Nicaragua

Nicaragua is a Hispanic country in southern Central America that is struggling to see and live in the full picture of the Gospel. There is a famine of the true Gospel there where many people, like in America, call themselves Christians but have no grasp of the reality of what following Christ looks like. There are churches that preach and live that “Following Jesus looks like receiving the love of Christ in your life AND following a bunch of legalistic rules" – a religion of bondage. God’s heart is to see this country completely transformed by the Gospel and flourish with the fruit of experiencing His presence! The Father's heart is at work to do so this moment. Tomorrow, July 20th, I will fly there to be the project leader for a team from Athens Church in Athens, GA.

WIth Church to Church, our team from Athens Church will be an aid in many different areas and ministries of Granada, Nicaragua. We will serve in El Puente where we will continue in the relationships already build and help connect the people to the ministries where they need to be. Some of the ministries are "The Train Station", the nursing home, prayer walks, "the Dump", and bible studies in the "Death Zone" (not to worry, it's just a name). There also is a church plant south of town in the community of Pantanal (translated 'Swamp'), where we will have constant interactions with the youth by putting on sports camps (soccer & baseball) and Vacation Bible School programs.

I had a phone conversation with Don Straka, one of the full-time missionaries in Granada, and he told me this: "We desire to see deeper relationships and see lives truly impacted and restored by the Gospel. There are a lot of the kids/youth in the area in & out of jail here and our heart is to see the Gospel penetrate whole families and them come into an intimate relationship with Christ, which in-turn transforms the community as a whole into the full-working body of Christ."

Pray with us, subscribe to my blog (left), "follow" us on Twitter and "like" us on Facebook to keep up with all the action in Nicaragua. You might just learn something! 😉
