I'm not a swimmer.

In fact, I want to compete in an Iron Man competition, but I'm terrified of the swim!

You see, I sink.

I may not have great swimming skills, but I do like to fish. I might not be too great at fishing, but I enjoy the quaint attraction to the water in that way.

Fishing is best with just the right guys… Jesus had a few fishin' buddies himself.

One day, his pals were catching nothing but the wind and frustration. I get that. Guys, you know what I mean…

They hit the water at night. At this time, Jesus had already been crucified, raised from the dead, and revealed himself to the boys.

Daybreak came, the right time for the catch, and Jesus hollered from the shore, "Drop the nets on the right side where the fish are!" But the boys didn't know it was Jesus.

As soon as they did what He said and the nets were being filled and in fact, overflowing, one of them recognized and yelled with excitement, "It's the Lord!"

Simon Peter put on his outer clothing and hit the water swimming for Jesus! He threw himself in the water to get to Jesus.

This picture struck a chord in me.

Peter made haste. He wasted no time. I can only imagine the speed at which he got to Jesus. (Michael Phelps better watch out!)

As I take a step back, I see that Jesus was coming to them and Peter recognized this, so his response was to get there ASAP! "HE'S BACK! HE'S COMING FOR ME! He cares for us even in our fishing!" Talk about walking on water… I bet Peter ran on water!

Everything within me yearns to get to Jesus as fast as I can – to run on water – to make haste in recognizing that He is coming for ME and throw myself into His arms!

My legs are moving and arms twitching as I type this… I'm ready to go!

I don't know about you, but I can't get to Jesus fast enough…
