Do you ever recall experiencing something amazing for the first time? What was your reaction? Utter awe.

Every time I look at the moon, I dream of what it must be like to take one step up there, as my neck gets a crick in awe. It's almost unbelieveable that something so big and amazing rotates so beautifully and perfectly around the earth! I am awestruck — and amazed is not even the word.

Do you remember the first time that you jumped on a trampoline? Your first words were probably, "WHOA!!!" and you couldn't get off. Tired as you may get, your desire was to continue the experience and renew the adventure.

Is this what our Heavenly Father desires for us, a new and awestruck adventure?

A few weeks ago, I went to the lake with a precious family that I adore with all of my heart. Among the dad & mom, there are two young kids (10 & 8). As we meandered around the lake, Mason (8) was peering over the side looking where the water met the boat, and with the biggest smile on his face said, "WHOA!!!! Dad, did you see how far that water came up!?" Immediately, I was brought into a child-like mindset & spirit.

Is that it? Is this what it looks like to be child-like? Mason & Madison absolutely adore their mother & father and they are assuredly mom & dad's biggest fans — as they allow themselves to be embraced.

As we grow older, doesn't it seem that we get a sense and take a stance that we, "know what's going on around us" and "have experienced it all"? Yikes. I remember being told that was my attitude at times as an early teen. As I look back on those years, and as I examine how we as adults can seemingly operate now, there's not a whole lot of difference.

As our mindsets become "I know" and "I have", that's just what it becomes an "I" game. Somewhere, we took a wrong turn.

It is in our new and adventurous awe, as we allow ourselves to experience it, that we become more child-like in spirit and encounter the Father's heart for us, that the old is made new, the dull is made sharp, and the sour becomes fresh. It is in this, what we experience, that breaks the mold and brings us to the throne in awe and adorance of our Father — faithfully expecting the Kingdom of God to crash before us!
